Nowadays we are more and more aware that it is important to respect the Earth. I like my food and drink to come from its “fruits”, to be natural. I like to drink what my distant ancestors drunk. When I drink a glass of beer, I feel connected to the monk of the Middle Ages or to the fellah who worked in Ancient Egypt. Although it is known that excessive consumption is bad for health and should be avoided, it is equally known that beer in moderation may fit in a healthy lifestyle, as supported by science.
The work of Dutch Beer Institute is to pick all the “fruits” of science regarding moderate consumption and health, and translate them in a balanced, nuanced and understandable way. This will help those who enjoy a glass of beer every now and then, to understand and make them more aware of the health effects of this ancient beverage.
